The Eye Toy for PS2 is probably th best thing that ever happened to PS2. There are 12 cool games and a Playroom where there are loads of cool effects. I reccommend Eye Toy to any PS2 Owner!! You look a bit of a prat tough when you are trying to hit the buttons but that is the fun of it!! No controllers are needed. IT IS SO COOL!!! |

By now i´m sure most of us don´t trust much when a new video-game electronic gimmick comes along. After years of supposed new amazing inventions to put the player inside a game i bet most of you are fed up of all those inventions who never deliver exactely what they promisse.
Well that´s what i though yesterday before i started playing this stuff.
Trust me, this thing is diferent. This thing is weird. This thing is really fun to play.
Its hard to describe the feeling, so i guess i wont even try to do it. Just do one thing, if you buy this game, start by playing in the KUNG-FOO game.
Once you throw your first virtual punch into a character you´ll be hooked and surprised at the actual acuraccy you can get. Specialy when you remember you´re just throwing punchs into thin air.
Believe me, this is a totaly new experience. And the feeling of hiting something with your own fists is trully weird and totaly mixes up your senses of reality.
But is the game worth the price ? Actualy not realy, there´s not much of a game in none of the 12 mini games. This thing is more like a demo you buy just to see if the new style of crazy virtual gameplay works. The great thing is that this new gadget works fantastic ! When i was playing with it i only wished this stuff was being used to play some Doom like game. Believe it a Doom like played with this cam will be an amazing experience.
Don´t expect the greatest games in the world , and you´ll love this game. Expect a great and weird experience instead.
All of the 12 minigames try very hard to be diferent and all look diferent actualy. The feeling playing any of them is very much the same, but nevertheless we can see that someone tried very hard to give us diferent styles of things to do from game to game and for this i thing all those games deserve good reviews.
Imagine yourself playing inside of an old ZX Spectrum with the most basic games back in 1984 but with better graphics and sound and you´ll get the idea of what its like.
Despite all the retro feeling this game as a game works, simply because this new camera gadget realy creates a new experience for the player.
The camera works fantastic and you can bet you never played anything like this. Be prepared to look like an idiot waving your arms and legs around and doing strange poses. Your neighbours will think you´re totaly nuts this time.
I hope more games are developed for this gadget because in my opinion its a winner. Right now, soon it becomes a little shallow but this is because the games are basic. If some more complex games get released i bet this thing will become essential to any gameplayer in the future as it is a totaly diferent experience of playing with a ps-gun ou joypad.
Speaking of basic games, a PONG game for two players would be trully brilliant to play with this thing, using our hands as pads for example. Or a Breakout clone. Even an asteroids would work with this thing.
Anyway, right now my favorite mini-games are, Kung-Foo, Window Washer and the one with the fires in the sky.
So to conclude should you buy this ?
Well, YES, consider you´re buying a camera and not a game altough the camera comes free with the game.
Its not the greatest single-player game in the world (its not), but its an experience well worth your money and a gadget with great potential.
So please Sony don´t let this die out. Make more interesting games for it.

I think eye toy play is really cool but sometimes when u go to hit or move an objest it does not do it straight away. I give it 4/5 because the of the game design not because of my taste. |

Its a step in the right direction for the future of game play, one thing - don't have too much red in your background as the cam has trouble distinguishing movement against a red/dark background. Top game, buy it and we're sure to see more soon!! |
